Holiday Ardnamurchan - 15 October - Early morning wander
Being the first person up in the morning has its advantages and disadvantages. The disadvantage is that you have to wait for everybody else to get up, dressed and organised.
This, however, can often be outweighed by the ability to sneak off on your own for a quick hours walk. This was what I did this morning. Fifteen minutes found me somewhere amazing. By walking across the fields and up the little hill I had seen from the kitchen window the day before I could look out over the Ardnamurchan lightouse to the west,
Grigadale house and loch to the East,
And Sanna bay and the islands of Eigg, Muck and Rhum to the north.
Whilst up there I saw a beautiful Stag in the glen below and revelled in the peace and solitude of being in this beautiful remote part of the world, knowing that the others slept peacefully away in their beds below.
By the time I returned from my hilltop sanctuary the others had awakened, and Leo having discovered the bell (with help) was ensuring that nobody could return to their beds.
