Carry on Camping and Canoe building - Thursday
Having packed my bags and removed the two dogs from the bags, car etc I was ready to have my lunch and head off.
After a final faff and eating my lunch I set off. I had planned to head down the A and B roads to Penrith then, Morland, however as I was now running so late I decided to head straight down the motorway to Penrith, then head across to Greengills campsite at Morland. To what will be the total shock of Susan: I didn't get lost or use the sat nav till I'd got as far as Penrith (see I don't get lost all the time). Leaving Penrith, I turned on the sat nav and the heavens opened.
The heavy rain and the sun created the most beautiful illusion of a rainbow coming out the front of my car's radiator, beautiful and totally distracting whilst driving.
Fortunately, by the time that I'd found the campsite the rain had stopped and the sun had come out. This was essentially the last time the sun came out until Sunday night/Monday morning when we were finishing up and leaving. Wary of the rain coming back on I wasted no time getting my tent up.
And more importantly getting a brew on.
Susan and Aaron having finally got the Mazda fixed were running a couple of hours behind me. So while I was waiting I made pasta with a tomato sauce and cheese. Then settled down to wait for them with another coffee and a book.
By the time they arrived, it was pretty much dark so we quickly put their tent up. Though quickly is a relative term as Susan had bought a new tent, a tent that was bigger than some small villages. However, later on in the weekend it would prove its worth as the weather deteriorated somewhat.
